Bradford Park
Ave 0
v 6
Harrogate Town |
A brilliant second half display proved too hot to handle for Park
Avenue as Harrogate Town ran in five second half goals, including
four from leading scorer Danny Holland, to take the West
Riding County Cup in style. |
Despite taking a 30th minute lead through a Roy
Hunter strike, there was little to suggest that Harrogate would go
on to dominate the game as Park Avenue had given as much as they got
by the time the half time whistle sounded. |

Whatever Harrogate Manager Neil Aspin said to his players in the
half time team talk must have worked for the Blue Square North side
found another gear as the second half got under way. |
A series of near misses ended when Chris Bettney beat the off-side
trap to calmly slot home Harrogate's second from 18 yards on the
hour mark |
Although a third goal from Danny Holland, ten minutes later, seemed
to settle the issue, Park Avenue battled back and the Unibond League
side actually had the
ball in the net on two occasions but FIFA Assistant Referee David Richardson
ruled out both efforts and, while Park Avenue were still ruing their
misfortune, Holland was busy scoring his second to give Harrogate an
unassailable four goal advantage. |
A Bettney near post cross produced the goal of the game as Hollands
sublime flick lifted the ball over the keeper and Holland finished
of a personal four goal haul five minutes from
time to give Harrogate the County Cup for the fifth time in their
history. |
