CHARTER STANDARD

Guiseley AFC

GUISELEY AFC and their associated junior club Guiseley JFC have both achieved the Football Association's prestigious Charter Standard Award. Guiseley JFC became a Charter Standard Club in the summer by achieving exacting standards in the way that the club is run including such things as coach education, membership procedures, child protection, and codes of conduct.

Guiseley AFC have become a Charter Standard Adult Club - the first in the Wharfedale FA area - by adhering to the same standards as the junior club and have put in place procedures and training courses to ensure that the managers and coaches of all their teams have appropriate first aid and coaching adults qualifications.

Both sections of the club are now aiming to jointly achieve the highest level Charter Standard Community Club status in the near future. This achievement has been brought about by a successful amalgamation of the two clubs, which has seen the number of juniors and seniors playing in Guiseley colours double to nearly 300 in the last year.

Guiseley teams now start with the under six age group and progress in all age groups to the senior club's successful under-19, reserve and first team squads. A girls' team was also recently set up following a successful festival at Guiseley's home ground in Nethermoor Park.

Both clubs were presented with their plaques and certificates on Saturday by Mr Reg Allwood, secretary of the Wharfedale FA and a member of the West Riding County FA.

To run 17 junior teams at a club like Guiseley AFC and its
associated Guiseley AFC Juniors relies on the generosity of local companies to help provide kit and equipment.

This season alone Guiseley has set up a number of new teams including a girls' team and teams at Under-15 and Under-16 boys' levels. The Under-15s have been grateful to Otley associated firms Otley Hire Centre and Fast Track Plant Hire for providing them with their kit.
