Phoenix FC have
recently been awarded Charter Standard Status by The FA.
The FA Charter Standard
Award provides recognition that clubs are well run,
sustainable, with child protection and safety paramount. It
also recognises the club’s commitment to only using fully
qualified FA registered coaches with continued coach
development and the raising of standards of behaviour in the
game.
The award has been achieved with the assistance, support and
guidance of the West Riding County FA to which the club are very grateful.
Phoenix FC, affiliated
to the
West
Riding
County
FA
and Barkston Ash District FA, is based at the
Selby
Sports
Development
College
. The club was formed in June 2007 by Bob Wilkinson, Kerry
Tomlinson and Sandra Price and already has registered with
them over 40 children; both boys and girls. They have three
age group teams of under 7’s, 8’s and 9’s who play in
the Selby District Junior Football League and are looking to
develop and grow in the future.
Bob Wilkinson, Chair and
coach said, ‘Our aim is to teach the children soccer
tactics, skills and league game-play to the highest standard
possible in a safe, fun and friendly environment. Our coaches
have all achieved minimum Level 1 qualification (some Level 2)
with the FA and I personally am awaiting the result of my UEFA
‘B’ Coaching Licence due to also coaching open age adult
football. We are very grateful to the Selby College who have
provided assistance and support from the start, the fantastic
support from all the parents at the club and I must also thank
our local sponsors; Yor-Appliances, YOR-KITCHEN and Richards
Electrical Services for their continued support. We are always
interested to hear from anyone who wishes to play football and
request them to make contact with me on 07846 525669 or Kerry
on 07850 881088 for further information.
