CHARTER STANDARD

Pontefract Collieries FC

County's Barry Chaplin (centre) presents Phil Prosser with the Charter Award

NEITHER FIRE NOR TEMPEST will keep a good club down and Pontefract Collieries FC are just such a club

A fire last Christmas destroyed part of the stand and storm damage brought down a boundary wall but, undeterred and with support from the local business, the club is back on its' feet and ready for the future.

The Club's award winning programme
Part of that future has been gaining the FA's Charter Standard Adult Club Award

The committee at Pontefract Collieries are intent on taking the club forward both on and off the field.  Facilities at the Skinner Lane ground are being upgraded with the installation of new floodlights, redecoration within the clubhouse area and, of course, gaining the FA's Charter Standard Adult Club Award which is seen as a vital part of the clubs future.

The Club is currently plays in the Northern Counties East Football League, Division One.

In 2005-06 they will operate a Reserve side in the Doncaster Senior League, and an Under-19's side in the Northern Youth Alliance, as well as entering an Under-18's side in the FA Youth Cup.

To further ensure the future, the club is entering its' first junior side, at under 16, into the Charles Rice Junior Football League

To oversee the clubs progress is club President, Phil Prosser.   In addition to his work as a Chief Technician in the RAF, Phil can also be seen on the professional grounds around the country as a Football League Referee and he sees Charter Standard as a vital part of the clubs development

"All clubs should be looking to gain Charter Standard" says Phil  "By looking closely at how the club operates and making sure everyone is qualified then standards throughout the club are raised"
