Norman Hunter presents Pudsey Chairman Ron Downs with the Charter Standard Award

The ex. Leeds Utd and England hero was at the Pudsey Civic Hall, not just to present the players with their trophies, but also to present the club with their newly won FA Charter Development Club Award

Chairman Ron Downs is rightly proud of the progress made since the clubs formation in 1989 and talks enthusiastically of plans for the future
"Pudsey juniors are committed to providing junior football within the local community. It is the intention of the club to develop and grow from its existing solid foundation"

Pudsey Junior Football Club, ironically, owes its existence to another sport.   Late in 1989 Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club put out a rallying call for new youngsters to join the club and the call was so loud that, not only did they get more cricketers, but a football team was formed  !

Today, with over 300 members, Pudsey Juniors now boasts some 12 boys teams and 4 girls teams ranging from 6 to 16 years of age making this club one of the largest in the West Riding

The Club frankly admits that the girls section was introduced through the desire achieve Charter Development status,  but it immediately became obvious that the demand for Girls football was higher than expected and plans are now in place to develop both the Boys and Girls sections to give all players a complete route through from junior to open age football

Girls Team Managers Mick Townley, David Walker, Mark Sawyer and Andy Driffield line up with some of the players

As a Development Club Pudsey Juniors takes it's links with the local community seriously

With access to 22 linked primary schools in the Pudsey area together with five High schools the club are able to provide a structured coaching development programme which provides the correct environment for junior football to develop within the community.

Links, particularly to Priesthorpe High School as a centre of Sports excellence, provides inspiration to recruit and retain players, coaches and officials.

All Managers and Coaches within the Club now hold Level one Coaching certificates and Two are further trained to Level Two standard and dedicated officers of the Club ensure that qualifications and the High standards achieved over the recent years are maintained.

Parents are actively encouraged to participate in the Club in a variety of ways, and the Clubs written Constitution, Child Protection Policy, and Codes of conduct are strictly adhered to from Players, Spectators through to officials, organisers and coaches. Pudsey have a recognised disciplinary committee tasked with dealing with all aspects of Club Discipline.

The Club is run on an amateur and voluntary basis with monthly committee meetings. The Club enjoys a solid financial position and supports a plethora of organised events including trips to Holland and France representing the local community.
