CHARTER STANDARD

Silsden FC

The County FA's Nicola Copley dropped into Cougar Park recently to present Silsden FC with the Charter Standard Award before their league game against FC United

The club celebrated it’s centenary year in 2004 and in this time Silsden has continued to go from strength to strength, not only in size but, in success both on and off the field as the attainment of the Charter Standard Community club award proves.

The clubs Junior section have been around in their present form since 1985 and caters for teams from under 7 through to under 17 with both boys and girls being represented and with the club introducing an academy style team to bridge the gap between the Junior and Senior set-up the club can now offer players progression right through to adult football without leaving the club.

Of the three adult men’s sides, the first team entered the North West Counties league in 2004/05 and gained promotion in their first year to North West Counties Division 1

The adults teams are complimented by a ladies team who themselves have been quite successful over recent seasons.

The club boasts an enviable ground at Keighley Road Silsden, and plans to acquire further land that will provide more playing and training areas.   Work is also under way to develop the changing facilities and build a new clubhouse on the site when appropriate funding is acquired

The club has also forged links with several pro clubs and clubs such as Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Huddersfield, Bradford City and Manchester United have taken on a number of players from all age groups over the years.

Silsden Juniors Annual 6 a side tournament has become one of the areas most popular and well-attended events and continues to improve each year through the hard work and dedication of the tournament committee.
