The
County FA's Nicola Copley dropped into Cougar Park recently to
present Silsden FC with the Charter Standard Award before their
league game against FC United
The club
celebrated it’s centenary year in 2004 and in this time Silsden
has continued to go from strength to strength, not only in size but,
in success both on and off the field as the attainment of the
Charter Standard Community club award proves.
The clubs Junior section have been around in their present form
since 1985 and caters for teams from under 7 through to under 17
with both boys and girls being represented and with the club
introducing an academy style team to bridge the gap between the
Junior and Senior set-up the club can now offer players progression
right through to adult football without leaving the club.
Of the three adult men’s sides, the first team entered the
North West Counties league in 2004/05 and gained promotion in their
first year to North West Counties Division 1
The adults teams are complimented by a ladies team who themselves
have been quite successful over recent seasons.
The club boasts an enviable ground at Keighley Road Silsden, and
plans to acquire further land that will provide more playing and
training areas. Work is also under way to develop the
changing facilities and build a new clubhouse on the site when
appropriate funding is acquired
The club has also forged links with several pro clubs and clubs
such as Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Huddersfield, Bradford City and
Manchester United have taken on a number of players from all age
groups over the years.
Silsden Juniors Annual 6 a side tournament has become one of the
areas most popular and well-attended events and continues to improve
each year through the hard work and dedication of the tournament
committee.
