Coach Development Evening

Thu 10 Dec 2009

6.00pm to 9.30pm

With Stuart Pearce

"Players need to have access to quality coaches, coaches who have the mentality of self -improvement.  If we can become better teachers of the game, we will produce better players"  (Stuart Pearce – u21 National Coach)

Budding coaches are being given the chance to pick the brains of England U21s National Coach, Stuart Pearce

Coaches can come face to face with ‘Psycho’ at West Riding County FA’s headquarters on Fleet lane, Woodlesford Thursday 10th December 6pm – 9.30pm

Having worked hard all year with the support from the FA's Regional Coach Development Manager Julie Chipchase, Pav Singh, Workforce Development Officer at WRCFA, has organised the evening by inviting a combination of players from Leeds City College Football Academy and Farsley Celtic Football Academy. These academy teams are managed and overseen by Anthony Gallagher and Mark Jackson. Anthony Gallagher is also a Coach Educator for the West Riding County FA and has organised transport for the players who are really excited in being coached by an England legend.

Pav Singh Said.
"I am really excited about the evening as are all the staff at West Riding, whatever level you coach at, coaches love to see high profile names delivering on their doorstep, we had an excellent turn out when the FA’s Elite Coach Manager Dick Bate delivered a coaching demonstration last year and just recently England Women’s National Coach Hope Powell, Leeds Utd Academy Director Neil Thompson and Youth Team Coach Neil Redfern."

There is some real hard work going on at the County in developing the Coach Education Programme and in the new year the Coaches Association, which also includes the new and exciting age appropriate courses, and a programme of in-service events that supports and develops all coaches at all levels involved in football. Coaches certainly have more options now and can enrol on courses that specifically meet the needs of their players. The FA and its partners have worked very hard in redefining the Coaching Pathways for grassroots coaches and beyond.
