Introduction to the Course
The FA Learning Introductory Module – Age Appropriate Coaching is a
vocational course that provides you with an opportunity to develop an
awareness of both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching young
players.
The knowledge gained from this Introductory Module will enable you to
develop an understanding of the role of the football coach in working with
young players.
The FA Learning Introductory Module, Age Appropriate Coaching has been developed by FA Learning using expertise from a variety of FA staff and experienced coaches. The role of a football coach is a rewarding and responsible one. Players and clubs have high expectations of coach’s conduct and behaviour that must be understood and supported by everybody. Appropriate behaviour is managed by the employing club, but should sit within the expectations provided during your course.
Progression route:
The course will endeavour to build on your football coaching knowledge to date and act as a stepping stone to the FA Youth Award Module 1 – Developing the Environment and the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.
CPD for Level 1 CCF Coaches
The course can also provide a useful refresher option for those holding a current 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football.
Course Pre-requisites
Prior to attending the course, applicants are required to:
be at least 16 years of age
Course Aim and Learning Outcomes
Aim:
To provide candidates who have an ongoing involvement in coaching young
football players with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and
confidence in coaching children.
This Introductory Module offers an opportunity for football coaches to be supported in developing their knowledge of how to operate as a football coach within the expectations of the game, their club, the players involved and others affected by the coaching process.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the FAL Age Appropriate Coaching – Introductory Module, you should be able to:

Explain how we all learn differently and begin to include this knowledge within a coaching
