FA Youth Award Module 1 |

Developing the Environment |
|
|
|
|
|
This is a four day
course aimed at coaches at all levels, but with at least a minimum of a
Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, who wish to extend their knowledge
of coaching young players |
|
|
|
|
|
We held our first course in October and it was received very well, with some excellent feedback from those taking part. |

|

How Players Learn |
|
|
| • |
How to begin to create a good learning environment. |
| • |
The different ways that information can be presented to young players. |
| • |
Candidates will have practised some relevant techniques through discussion and presentation in small groups. |

Candidates will have applied these techniques to a practical coaching session. |
|

|
|
|
|
Managing Mistakes |
|
|
| • |
Know how to begin creating the environment with their team/club. |
| • |
Have a number of different ways to handle the mistakes the players make. |
| • |
Have a better understanding of why the effective management of mistakes is important in the development of young players. |

|
|
|
|
Self-Esteem |
|
|
| • |
Understand what self-esteem is and the important part it players in the development of young players. |
| • |
Have development an understanding of the changing emotional needs of young players. |
| • |
Be introduced to elements of good practice that will help players develop and maintain high levels of self-esteem. |

|
|
|
Motivation |
|
|
| • |
Have a better understanding of motivation and how the coach can use it to help the players. |
| • |
Know the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. |
| • |
Have some ideas about what motivates your players. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Practical
The practical element of the course will relate to the game ideas included in your resources, which includes diagrams and additional notes.
Each element of the practical delivery will be shown by the course Tutors and includes not only ways in which these practices can be progressed, but also how we might modify them. |
