£ 370,000 for Sherburn Development

Sherburn White Rose Junior FC have scored a brand new clubhouse, thanks to a £329,935 grant from the Football Foundation and an additional contribution of £39,600 from The Coalfields Regeneration Trust. The new facilities were unveiled by John Grogan M.P on Fri 25 June at the clubs Finkle Hill Ground

The funding has provided the club's 250 members with a brand new pavilion at Sherburn Recreation Ground, housing 4 team changing areas, 2 officials rooms, a treatment room, committee room, kitchen and a multi purpose clubroom.
 
 
The new facilities are set to increase opportunities for more budding players in the area. Further teams will be established including two new junior teams and an under 17 team. Additional women and girls teams will be formed and the club will also host mini soccer festivals and small-sided football fun days.

 

Disabled footballers will also be offered opportunities at the site.  Three of the coaching staff have completed the disabled coaching course to open up opportunities for children with disabilities to play football at the club and four more are to complete their specialist coaching qualifications.

Sherburn have demonstrated that they are a true Community Club and the hard work of Gary Limbert and the other volunteers at the club have ensured a bright future for football within this area"
 
Gary Limbert of Sherburn White Rose said: "Sherburn White Rose would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the project over the last 5 years, including the Football Foundation, The Coalfields Regeneration Trust and our other funding partners.  Our terrific new facilities will help our club provide grass roots football for the local community for many years to come.  They also demonstrate to other sports clubs that significant projects can be achieved albeit with a lot of hard work and dedication."

Peter Lee, Chief Executive of the Foundation welcomed this latest boost for West Yorkshire football that has seen investment worth over £7m on 33 projects in the region: "The transformation of the grass roots game in West Yorkshire continues. Unprecedented amounts are now being invested from the top of the game directly into the grass roots and our sincere congratulations go to everyone involved in Sherburn White Rose for their hard work and dedication in securing this new pavilion for their community."
 
Andy Lock, Regeneration Manager at The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) commented: "The Trust is pleased to have been involved in this exciting project that has given the local community a great new resource.  The clubhouse will undoubtedly ensure the continued success of the club and so promote a healthier lifestyle to the young people of Sherburn-in-Elmet for many years to come."
