Strawberry World Cup

Children from Strawberry Fields Primary School in Garforth celebrated the World Cup this week by holding a “World Cup Day”. Each class spent the day studying a particular country from the tournament. They investigated facts about the country, played traditional music and even had food tasting sessions! Over 300 pupils participated in some form of football activity during the day.

Children from Key Stage 2 were put into teams and followed the fixtures from this years World Cup. The teams were made up of children from mixed year groups, ability and gender and fair play and sportsmanship was promoted throughout the fixtures. 63 games were played in total and the final, which was watched by the whole school, was between Togo and Paraguay, with Paraguay winning after a penalty shoot out!
This event highlights the schools commitment to football and will be a day  to remember for all the pupils involved.
