Girls Centre’s of Excellence are licensed
through professional clubs and County FA’s, with provision based
on the local population. Standards of coaching and administration
are set by football's governing body, with players selected at
trials organised each summer.
Throughout the year girls receive coaching twice a week and a regular
fixture programme, along with workshops, training days and the
required number of rest days. The
aim of the centres is to identify and develop potential young
players within a structured environment.
The top players in each age group will then get an opportunity within the
season to attend one of the regional camps that are taking place
across the country. These
camps will act as a focal point for England selection for girls from
the U14 and U16 age categories.
There are 2 Centre of Excellences within the West Riding area;
West Riding Girls with age groups at U12, U14 and U16 and Leeds United with
age groups at U10, U12, U14 and U16.
