FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT

Opportunities

Dear Sir/Madam

This is a new initiative from Bradford College in conjunction with Bradford City Women’s FC and Major League Soccer Camps. We are looking to provide talented sports people with the opportunity to combine quality football coaching with academic studies to develop the women’s game further.

What is the Women’s Football Development Centre ?

The Women’s Football Development Centre is a new initiative for September 2007 to provide female footballers the chance to study for nationally recognised qualifications at Bradford College whilst benefiting from expert coaching and support from Bradford City Women’s FC and Major League Soccer Camps.

Students of the Development Centre will study full time on either the NCFE Level 1 in Sport, OCR Level 2 in Sport (National Certificate) or OCR Level 3 in Sport (National Diploma) depending on level of academic ability.

Time is scheduled each week for students to receive elite coaching from FA qualified staff, represent Bradford College in the North East Region Merit League and the opportunity to train and play for Bradford City Women’s FC in the North Eastern Regional Premier Division.

What Opportunities Exist for Development Centre students ?

* Skill development with FA qualified coaches.
* Opportunities to gain employment within the sport & leisure industry
* The chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications.
* The chance to study other qualifications such as coaching, officiating and first aid certificates.
* Opportunities to represent Bradford College in competitive matches.
* Opportunities to coach football in America and possible scholarships.

Recruitment Procedures for 2007 Entry

Students wishing to enrol on The Women’s Football Development Centre in September 2007 will be assessed firstly on their academic ability and secondly on their football skills.

* Interested applicants need to complete a Bradford College application form identifying the Women’s Football Development Centre alongside their chosen full time course.
* Applicants will be invited to an interview at Bradford College where a decision will be made on which level of course will be most appropriate for the applicant to study.
* All applicants to the Development Centre will then be invited to one of our trial sessions over the summer, where football skills will be assessed.
