Jonathan
Gardner was the hero of the day as West Riding scraped into the last
sixteen of the County Youth Cup. |

|
|
|
Cheshire opened
the scoring after 24 minutes with a superbly worked goal. Bailey,
Reilly and Lillie combined well down the right, and Lillie delivered
a fine cross which was met by Josh Hancock, sending his header into
the roof of the net. |
|
|
|
|
|
Cheshire
dominated for most of the game and only three superb saves from
keeper Gardner kept West Riding's hopes alive. |
|
|
|
|
|
In the 75th
minute, following a free kick on the right, a scramble inside the
penalty area gave Marcus Edwards a half chance and the West Riding
forward poked a shot at goal for the equaliser. |
|
|
|
|
|
In stoppage
time a penalty was awarded for a trip in the area and Paddy Miller
stepped up to send the holders through. |
|

West Riding
manager, John Riordan said "We were
outplayed for most of the game but Cheshire failed to take their
chances and we were rewarded for not giving up. |
