The West
Riding under 18's took another step closer to retaining the FA County Youth Cup
when Paddy Miller capped a fine individual performance with two
superbly taken goals to sink the Wiltshire FA's challenge and move
the West Riding into the Semi-Finals. |

| With four players missing due to
injury, the West Riding looked shaky from the kick off and Joe Barber,
Joshua Hope and Scott Walton were forced into some desperate defending to
keep the Wiltshire attack at bay. |

Eventually, the home side began to get a grip thanks to some
enterprising play by Barber and captain Miller which, coupled with the speed of
Luke Gibson and Marcus Edwards, kept the visitors pinned
in their own half.
|
|
|
|
Although West Riding went on to dominate the rest of the half, they could
only find the net once when Joe Barber fired in a cross from the right and
Miller rose above the defence to head into the corner (see top of page). |

|
Wiltshire stepped up a gear as the second half got under way and were unlucky not to
equalise when keeper Jonathan Gardiner's rash challenge left referee Mr. Bond
pointing at the penalty spot, but the chance disappeared when Gardiner made up for his moment of madness by saving the spot kick.

Wiltshire continued to push for an equaliser and, by the 72nd minute, looked
perfectly capable of achieving their aim but a moment of brilliance finished
off the challenge when Miller let loose a shot from the edge of the centre
circle which dipped under the crossbar to effectively finish the game.

|
|
Sam Rushworth almost grabbed a third in the dying minutes but Wiltshire keeper
Ken Kalpinon saved well.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The West Riding now face a trip to East Anglia to face the Suffolk FA in the
semi-final.
