REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

u18 Presentations 2008

It's the end of another great season for the West Riding under 18's and, having lifted the Northern Counties League Title and reached two cup semi-finals, it was time for some well deserved congratulations for the squad.

County caps, which are awarded after ten appearances, are normally a rare commodity but the teams success this season has produced more games and, subsequently, many more players have been awarded caps than usual.

To play ten times for the County is a big achievement but to play twenty times is remarkable !
In order to pull off such a feat it's necessary to play more than one season for the side and two players who have done just that are captain Paddy Miller and keeper Jonathan Gardiner.

As under 17's, both players were of such high standard that they were included in last season's County Youth Cup winning team and, with another years experience behind them, they've added added the League title to their trophy haul together with an engraved tankard in recognition of their outstanding performances over the last two years.

Paddy (left) and Jonathan (right) are pictured above receiving their tankards from County FA president Peter Marsden who is also pictured below presenting caps to many of the squad.
