2006-07

A VINTAGE SEASON

      
It's been a vintage year for the West Riding County FA Representative teams.
 
County Secretary Roy Carter said "Not a bad season all round, in fact probably the best we have ever had"
Under 16

New under 16's Manager Mark Swales enjoyed a superb debut season.  With the Midland Counties League Championship already in the bag, the under 16's suffered their only defeat of the season when they narrowly lost 2-3 to Leicestershire in the Midland Counties Cup Final.

Women's

Another new manager enjoying a winning season was Julie Lewis.  The Women's team had not lost a game in three years when Lewis took the reins and she extended the unbeaten run to four years when a goal three minutes from time in the final game of the season was enough to give West Riding the Ridings Cup.

Under 18's

The icing on West Riding's cake came in the form of the FA County Youth Cup where the under 18's triumphed over Suffolk in a nail biting final at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground.
At one stage in the season John Riordans' squad were in with a chance of a unique treble but, in the end, had to settle for just two trophies. 
 

A first defeat of the season came at the hands of Durham FA who ended West Riding's treble hopes by knocking them out of the Northern Counties Cup at the semi-final stage.

But West Riding's season was far from over as, first, they lifted the Northern Counties Divisional Title and then ended the season with a magnificent victory over Suffolk in the FA County Youth Cup Final.
