| West Riding reached the
semi-finals of the Midland Youth Cup when two first half goals
from Jordan Magee was enough to give them victory at Derby. |

| The visitors got off to a perfect
start when, after just three minutes, Magee pounced on a
loose ball to strike the opening goal after a shot from
Anthony Booth had been blocked. |
| |
| Half an hour later, Spenser Horsfall,
making his debut on the left wing, fired in a driven cross
which Magee planted in the back of the Derby net with a
siuperb diving header. |
| |
| Derbyshire pulled themselves back
into the game with a goal seven minutes into the second half
to leave the result on a knife edge but West Riding hung on
for victory. |

The under 16's were crowned Midland Youth League Champions last
season in
one of the West Riding County FA's most successful years ever. |
|
|
|
But, that was last year and the first representative match of
the new season took place on Sun 23 Sep when the under 16s entertained Derbyshire at Fleet
Lane. |
|
|
|
As defending champions, Mark Swales’ squad are expecting
a severe test in every game and the first one lived up to expectations |
 |
|

|
|
|
|
First half goals from Iwan Hanley-Heeley (19mins) and skipper Scott
Driscoll (pen 27 min) gave the home side a comfortable half-time lead
and although Derbyshire replied early after the restart it was not
enough to prevent the West Riding side from taking the three points. |
|
|
|
|
A full list of fixtures in the league awaits the team with home games
against Herefordshire, Oxfordshire and Huntingdonshire and visits to
Birmingham, Staffordshire and Leicestershire whilst an away trip to
Derbyshire in the league cup has to be played by the end of October.
