    DONCASTER ROVERS BELLES  v  FULHAM
    Wed 6 Aug 2003
    Field Mill, Mansfield
    7.45 pm Kick-off

This will be the second Community Shield and third charity match opening the women's football season. It will also be a special occasion as The FA celebrates its tenth anniversary season of running the women's game. Since 1993 women's football has boomed with the number of players growing from just 11,000 registered players to 85,000 last season - making football the top female sport in England.

"The Football Association is proud to benefit the community through women's football, just as it does in the men's game," explained FA Vice-Chairman Ray Kiddell. "This match will be an exciting one - not only because it brings together two of the best sides in the women's game, but also because it will be a fantastic celebration of 10 years of FA governance."

The game will be the first charity women's match played outside the capital. Doncaster Belles took part in the first such match two years ago, losing 5-2 to Arsenal, while Fulham beat the Gunners on penalties to lift last season's Shield.
